Upcoming Classes For First Time Buyers In Virginia

Classes are scheduled to be offered by the Office of Housing and Community Development to teach first-time home buyers the pros and cons of the purchasing process to help them with a seamless transition into the world of property ownership.

The classes, which are offered on a frequent basis, will cover pertinent topics such as personal finances, first time buyer grants, credit management and credit scoring, down payment assistance, how to apply and qualify for a mortgage loan, choosing the right home in the best location, why you should trust a professional for a home inspection and what each item is on closing statement.

The Virginia Gazette reports:

The classes will be held Tuesday, Sept.15 and Thursday, Sept. 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center Community Room, 4600 Opportunity Way.

Registration for the classes closes Monday, Sept. 14. To register, visit www.vhda.com. James City County residents can get more information on the First Time Homebuyer Program at 757-259-5340.
