Outright Cash Gifts To Help Qualify For Home Ownership in CA
If you’re looking for a direct California first time home buyer grant, the California Housing Finance Agency doesn’t provide direct cash gifts to prospective homeowners to help ease the burden of purchasing their first residence. There are, however, a variety of local agencies providing grants in the form of cash gifts to potential first time home owners.
There’s a $2,000 grant available in Ventura, CA:
“The Southland Regional Association of REALTORS® is currently offering grants to qualified homebuyers who purchase their first home within the San Fernando or Santa Clarita Valley and have a low to moderate income-level. The amount of each grant will be $2,000 and will only be paid to qualified applicants after the close of escrow while funding lasts. Repayment of grant is not required.”

In addition to the above, some programs start out as a loan that will turn into an outright grants if you remain in the property you purchase for 5 years of more. To learn more, please visit our California First Time Home Buyer page and investigate all of your options.
